This Might Never Happen Again

This is not exaggeration, this not an attempt to play on your fear for profit.  As far as I know, this hasn’t happened in the Triangle Area ever, at least since the 30′s or 40′s.  And it may never happen again.  Two of the best Swing band leaders in the region are squaring off in musical melee mayhem!  And you, my friend, are in a unique position to get ringside seats as they battle it out.

What: Triangle Tap Project Benefit Dance

Two bands enter, and one leaves. Then the other leaves a little later, but in shame.  There will be a beginner swing dance lesson, live music, silent auction, Charleston performances, After Party, and much, much more!

On top of all of this, all proceeds from the night go to help kids in the third world get clean drinking water!

So here we ... Read More →]]> We had an adult and very polite conversation with Adam and Abigail recently about Hot Club. And they were like, “We can do it better!”
And we were like, “Nuh-uh!”
And they were like, “Fuh-huh!”
And we were like, “Prove it!”
And they were like, “Fine!”
And we were like, “Double Fine!”

So here we are, our good friends Adam “dooty-head” Speen and Abigail “pants-on-fire” Browning will be TRYING to do Hot Club better than us. They’ll be teaching the lessons (they’re all like, “We’re International Instructors, Bla, Bla, Bla”), and they’ll be DJing (ohh, we’re sooo scared of the often-hired-for-big-deal-events professional DJs).

This class is for those of you who might be wondering: “What’s next?” You can lead/follow a wide range of moves but you see people on the floor and are still wondering: “How do they do that?” This is your class. Adam and Abigail will focus on maintaining connection throughout your movements, and work on more effective partnering and expressing the music through your dancing. In other words, they will teach you how to make your dances end with an “mmm…”

Cost:
Advanced Registration (Both Classes and Admission to both Dances) ends 02/08/2011 – $21/$15 students

Drop-in (includes the class and admission to that night’s dance) – $13/$10 students per class or $26/$20 for both

Beginner Lesson (Lindy Hop/ Free with admission to dance)

Lindy Hop is the original swing dance from the 1920′s in Harlem. It’s also fun, free and high-energy. Let Adam and Abigail teach you the basics so you can get your butt on the floor in style.

Is not so smooth-talking, or pimp-walking. You might here Banaphone or Cee Lo’s “F**k You,” but you’ll forgive him because he’s loveable and non-threatening.
